We are looking for “100 stories of Lasallian Vocations”

The Office of Vocations and Volunteer Ministry of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools announces the launch of a campaign on Lasallian vocations, entitled: “100 Vocations story”.

The initiative, open to the entire Lasallian Family, invites Brothers, teachers, students, former students and volunteers to share about their vocational stories.

“We are happy to hear your story! We are sure that your story will inspire many people and help us to get in touch with Lasallians from around the world”, remarks Mourad Barsoum, Lay Lasallian, Director of the Office of Vocations and Volunteer Ministry, who for several years has been committed to the Volunteer Ministry and Lasallian mission, and is convinced of the narrative power of the vocational stories of so many Brothers, teachers, volunteers (current or former), and students who are passionate about their Lasallian vocation.

Sharing stories

Indeed, recalling Pope Francis’ words to young people in the apostolic exhortation Christus Vivit: “The Young are able to guide other young people and to exercise a genuine apostolate among their friends”, Mourad hopes that by sharing their vocational stories, those who have lived the experience of volunteering will encourage other young people to link up with the various Lasallian volunteer options that exist worldwide, supporting the educational mission in various works and projects, in a special way in the geographical and existential peripheries, that is, where life cries out.

In this regard, Pope Francis himself has also acknowledged in his message for World Communications Day 2020 that “from childhood we hunger for stories just as we hunger for food. Whether in the form of fairy tales, novels, films, songs, news… stories influence our lives, even if we so not always realize it […] Stories leave their mark on us; they shape our convictions and our behaviour; they can help us understand and communicate who we are”.

In search of vocational stories

From the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, we are looking for stories of the young interested in volunteering and committed to the Lasallian educational mission; Brothers who share their own vocational experience, encouraging others to embrace the Lasallian charism; students and graduates who feel inspired by Lasallian values in the service of those most in need; teachers who are passionate about Lasallian education and committed to transforming reality through education.

How to participate?

Supporting and giving life to this campaign is very simple: just record a short video sharing your vocational testimony (taking into account the guidelines detailed in the attached file), or you can write a short paragraph about your vocational experience, including some photos to complement it.

Your story can inspire others! And we want to share it through our channels and digital platforms, including social networks. You can send your video or your written contribution (with photos) to mbarsoum@lasalle.org. “If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us,” concludes the Director of the Office of Vocations and Volunteer Ministry.
