The Plenary Assembly announced by Br. Armin Luistro, Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, in his message of 4 June 2023 – on the occasion of the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity – will take place at the Generalate in Rome from 7 to 14 July 2024, and is placed in the communal perspective of the journey of conversion which requires “significant changes in our organisation on the level of the central government of our Institute”, in a way that “will allow us to build on the gains of the past, to be more dynamic in responding to the emerging needs of the world, and facilitate our discernment and implementation of the inspirations from the Holy Spirit”, as Br Armin said in his message.
The Plenary Assembly is a fraternal encounter in a synodal perspective that convenes a group of Brothers of the Christian Schools and Lasallian Partners to discern God’s call to journey and make possible the Pathways of Transformation that will allow us to be “one Lasallian Family, with diverse vocations; leaven for a more fraternal world, sent forth to encounter God in those who are poor, and to promote justice”.
Unlike the General Chapter and the International Assembly of the Lasallian Educational Mission (AIMEL), the Plenary Assembly is not a decision-making or recommendatory body for the being and work of Lasallians. Rather, it focuses on the search for consensus based on a participative dynamic that allows us to move forward together around the priorities of the Institute.
“We feel called to prophetic audacity”, commented Br. Carlos Gómez, Vicar General. “Brothers and Lasallians who are courageous to create and prophetic to believe; and, together and by association, audacious to share life, dreams, actions and projects in the cause of justice, peace and the inclusion of those who are on the margins of dehumanization and exclusion. Prophetic audacity must be our watchword in this crucial decade of history in order to live with intensity and creativity the calls of the Lord and of the Institute”.
