The Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools launches the “Being an Educator Today” Contest
In the framework of the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of Saint John Baptist de La Salle as Universal Patron of Educators, which will take place on 15 May 2025, the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools is launching the contest “Being an Educator Today” with the aim of making the Founder’s inspirational legacy visible to educators worldwide.
The contest, sponsored by the Office of Lasallian Heritage and Research, together with the Institute’s Office of Information and Communication, is intended for Lasallian students and educators from all over the world, who can participate in three categories: from 8 to 10 years of age (category A), from 11 to 17 years of age (category B) and from 18 years of age and older (category C).
What is the contest about? Taking as a reference and source of inspiration the document of the Declaration on the Lasallian Educational Mission, the participants are asked to create a photographic proposal or a short video that represents what it means to “Be an Educator Today”. That is to say, it will be possible to participate in the form of either a photograph or a short video.
According to the contest rules, the work “must be original (created by the author) and unpublished (it must not have been published before)”. Submissions must be sent together with the registration form to concorso75@lasalle.org by 30 April 2025.
To evaluate the projects and determine the winners, an international jury has been set up with the participation of representatives of the Generalate, the General Council, CIAMEL and a Lasallian University official.
The winners will be announced in May 2025 and their works will be exhibited at the Generalate, on the website of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and on social networks.
The award-winning woks will also be included in a digital publication commemorating the 75th anniversary of the proclamation of Saint John Baptist de La Salle as Universal Patron of Educators by Pope Pius XII on 15 May 1950.
