Brother Robert Schieler, Superior General, has recently confirmed the appointment of Brother Jean Bosco Bigirimana as President of the Delegation of Rwanda.
His appointment will be for another three years: from December 11, 2021 to December 10, 2024.
Born in 1973 in the Diocese of Ruhengeri (Northern Rwanda), he entered the novitiate on September 8, 2000 (Bobo Dioulasso/Burkina Faso). He took his first vows in 2002 and his final vows in 2009.
From 2005 to 2007 he served as Discipline Master in the De La Salle Teachers Training College (TTC). From 2012 to 2015 Director in the same school.
Two degrees: one in Pedagogical and Religious Sciences in CELAF (Abijdan), in 2005.
The other in Modern Languages and Publishing, at the National University of Rwanda, in 2011.
Brother Jean Bosco commented on his re-nomination as follows: “I thank the Superior General very much for having believed in me and for his attention, support and encouragement towards the Delegation of Rwanda”.
The Delegation in Rwanda currently has 34 Brothers and 105 lay partners (including teachers and educators). There are more than 2000 students in 4 schools and 1 centre for street children (5 educational centres in all).
Specifically:
– A primary teacher training school
– A special technical school of Art (graphics, sculpture and ceramics)
– Two are classical schools that welcome children from nursery, primary and secondary.
– The last one is a centre that specialises in taking in street kids and children to help them reunite with their families and schools.
