The organisation of the Lasallian Family, assumed in the terms of ‘revitalisation’, passes through the renewal of the structures of animation and governance, based on co-responsibility, sustainability, solidarity and transparency, to “ensure the life and mission of the Lasallian Family” and  “guarantee the promotion of the charismatic vitality of individuals and communities and of the Districts and Regions which make up the Institute”, as well as “the increase in the participation of Lasallian associates in the structures”, as the members of the 46th General Chapter expressed two years ago.

Likewise, this commitment to “the strengthening, reorganisation and promotion of the Lasallian community worldwide” is part of the proposals of the III International Assembly of the Lasallian Educational Mission (AIMEL). There was some discussion on offering models of governance and sustainability, and of collaborative networks of formation and accompaniment.

Living organisms

For this reason, the Offices and Commissions that have been set up over the last year have been one of the topics for reflection on by the Plenary Assembly held from 8 to 12 July, envisioned as bodies of service, accompaniment and articulation in a synodal perspective, based on the conviction that more than an organisation, they are living bodies made up of people who interact in a network.

Based on the “principle of circularity”, which in the synodal scope is understood as a process of going back and forth, from the grammar of listening and mutual learning as disciples-missionaries, “together and by association”, where no one has the exclusivity of the truth, the Plenary Assembly interacted with each of the Commission Chairs and Office Directors, who shared about their mandate, challenges and plannings. It was an experience of discernment and complementarity in the spirit of faith, community and ardent zeal that identifies the Lasallian Family.
