“Welcome, protect and prepare to let people move” is the motto of the San Ramón and San Fernando Home in Loja (Granada), a centre for minors handled by the Administration that the De La Salle Brothers have managed since 2012.
The age of the minors ranges from six to seventeen years. In most cases they have been removed from their family in order to grant them protection and ensure a safe environment of affection and care. Most of the minors are of Spanish origin, although others are of African origin. *
Some have found foster families who welcome them as new members of their family, during weekends or during vacation time. When they reach adulthood, they leave the centre: they become independent, return to their family environment or remain linked to some other Administration resource for former wards.
The comprehensive education work of the 24 children and adolescents is carried out by a team of educators, social workers and psychologists. A good group of professionals who try to meet all their needs with professional quality and warmth in treatment. In the Home there is also a community formed by three De La Salle Brothers; For some time, lay Lasallians have also been part of it.
* ”Seres de Luz” (“Beings of Light”) is a documentary about the adventure of two girls and a boy who undertook a dangerous journey to Europe alone in search of a better life and lived in our Home for several years.
