The Brother Superior General has appointed Brother Manuel Antonio Orozco Calderón as Visitor of the District of Central America-Panama for a four-year term beginning December 30, 2021 and ending December 29, 2025. Brother Manuel will replace Brother Alberto Mairena Floripe, who has served two terms as Visitor.

Brother Manuel Antonio was born in Cartago, Costa Rica, on October 6, 1970. He holds a degree in Religious Sciences from the University Rafael Landívar, Guatemala and earned a diploma in Learning Disabilities and master’s degrees in Human Resources Administration, Nonverbal Behaviour and Detection of Deception at the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. In addition, he holds a certification in Executive Coaching from INCAE-Nicaragua, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Educational Innovations from La Salle University in Costa Rica. He is an accountant by profession and an ideologist and co-founder of La Salle Technological University in Leon, Nicaragua.

Brother Manuel Antonio has carried out his ministry at the Santiago Indigenous Institute in Guatemala; in León-Nicaragua at the La Salle Polytechnic Institute and at the La Salle Technological University, where he is currently the Rector and Director of the Brothers’ Community. He was in charge of the Secretariat for the Lasallian Educational Mission of the District of Central America-Panama and is currently a member of the IALU Education Sub-Commission for the Central and South American sub-region, as well as a member of the Educational Mission Council and of the Council of Brothers of his District.


The District of Central America-Panama currently has 75 Brothers in 16 communities in 5 countries: Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica and Honduras. The average age is 56 years.
The District also has 41 lay associates.
