C.L.I.M.A. “Centre Lasallien pour l’Initiation aux Metiers de l’Agriculture” is a two-year residential program located in Bérégadougou, Burkina Faso. It works with approximately 24 families to train local communities in agriculture and animal husbandry.
The program’s goal is to improve their skills and allow them to return to their villages and impart their knowledge within their communities to improve local livelihoods. In addition to becoming economically independent thanks to the instruction they have received, students will use an “earth friendly” approach that will produce long-term results with little impact on the environment.
CLIMA’s impact has had a ripple effect in local communities that goes beyond its students to include farmers trained by CLIMA “graduates” in their own villages, and those who have come to CLIMA to ask for technical support, seeds, to borrow machinery, and other essential materials for production. Recently CLIMA was recognized by the Government as a Centre of Excellence in the country for freshwater fish farming.
