On April 8, Brother Armin Luistro, Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, has appointed Brother Esteban de Vega Alonso as the new Visitor of the Arlep District (Lasallian Grouping of Spain and Portugal). His term of office will begin on September 2, next and will run until September 1, 2028.

Brother Esteban was born in Prado (Zamora) in 1962. He lived the different stages of his Lasallian formation in Bujedo, Valladolid, Burgos, Griñón and Aravaca. He holds a Doctorate in Philosophy from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia, a Degree in Philosophy and Educational Sciences from the University of Oviedo and a Diploma in Teaching from the Universidad Fray Luis de León, Valladolid.

He also holds a three-year degree in Religious Sciences from the Instituto San Pío X and, subsequently, he earned the Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Sciences from the Universidad de Teología del Norte de España, based in Burgos. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Theoretical and Practical Philosophy, with a major in the History of Philosophy and Contemporary Thought, from the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia.

He began his mission as a teacher in the Centro La Salle in Burgos, and then continued his ministry in various Lasallian educational works in Valladolid, La Felguera and Santander. For eight years he was part of the Leadership Team of the then District of Valladolid, as Director of the Pastoral Ministry.

While in Santander he was appointed Director of the Novitiate of the Lasallian Region of Europe Mediterranean (RELEM), a service he carried out for 10 years in Madrid. During these years he also taught at the Colegio La Salle Institución and at the Centro Universitario in Aravaca, although not continuously. In particular, he taught at the Instituto de Ciencias Religiosas San Pío X.

For the last seven years he has been Auxiliary Visitor for the Network of Lasallian Communities of the Arlep District, working mainly in the zones of the Sector of Valladolid which extends over Castilla y León, Galicia, Asturias, Cantabria and Portugal.

In communion with the Brothers and Lasallians of the Arlep District, we express our congratulations and our best wishes to Brother Esteban, in view of the new responsibility he will soon assume, and at the same time we express our gratitude to Brother José Román Pérez Conde, who will conclude his service as the Visitor of the District.
