This Thursday, September 12, Bethlehem University hosted a significant diplomatic meeting at the Generalate of the Brothers of the Christian Schools in Rome, bringing together Ambassadors to the Holy See. This gathering aimed to deepen understanding and foster support for Bethlehem University’s mission of providing quality education to Palestinian students, particularly during the ongoing conflict in the region.
The event, led by Brother Armin Luistro, FSC, Superior General of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, and Brother Héctor Hernán Santos González, FSC, PhD, Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University, highlighted the university’s role as a sanctuary for learning and hope. With the current crisis in Palestine, the challenges faced by students have increased significantly, making the university’s mission even more crucial.
Enhancing Global Awareness
Ambassadors attending the event gained insight into Bethlehem University’s pivotal role in the Palestinian education system. Despite the difficult realities of war, Bethlehem University continues to offer students a path to a brighter future, standing as a beacon of resilience and peace in the Middle East.

Brother Jack Curran, FSC, PhD, KHS, Vice President for Advancement at Bethlehem University, also addressed the gathering, reinforcing the university’s mission of academic excellence rooted in the pursuit of truth and the advancement of social justice as a Catholic university in the Lasallian tradition: “Bethlehem University is more than just a university. It’s a beacon of hope for the Palestinian people and for people of all faiths across the globe who hold the Holy Land and its people dear.
