The Universidad de La Salle Victoria in Mexico hosted the 29th Lasallian University Sports Games from 13 to 16 November, with the participation of around 1,600 athletes from 13 Lasallian universities in Mexico.

“Sport brings us together”

Under the motto “Sport brings us together”, the sports competitions were held as part of the celebration of the 23rd anniversary of the founding of the Universidad La Salle Victoria, “with the aim of strengthening the bonds of fraternity between the network of universities“.

In this sense, according to the organisers, “the Lasallian Games are the biggest sports event of the student community of the La Salle Mexico Network”, with the aim of “creating a competitive environment that fosters among the participants the institutional values of faith, fraternity, service, justice and commitment“.

11 sporting disciplines

On this occasion, the more than 15,000 spectators who attended the Lasallian University Sports Games on the Ciudad Victoria campus in the north-east of Mexico witnessed the fraternal experience that permeated each of the competitions that took place in eleven disciplines: chess, athletics, basketball, fast football, flag football, association football, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, beach volleyball and tochito.

“Sport undoubtedly contributes significantly to the integral formation of students and strengthens institutional identity, and cultivates attitudes such as teamwork, solidarity and resilience, both in victory and defeat,” said the organisers.

The Lasallian University Sports Games have been held since 1994, under the direction of the National Lasallian Sports Council (CONADELA). Prior to this year’s 29th edition, the Universidad de La Salle Bajío hosted the Hames in 2023, while the Universidad La Salle Oaxaca hosted the Games in 2022.
